Total Colour System

The Resene Total Colour System is a method of colour formulation, notation and presentation. It is divided into twelve different hue types, each of which is called a palette. Each palette is given an identifying letter code as follows:

The Total Colour System includes nonfading bright reds that are as colourfast as inorganic pigments, together with permanent bright yellow shades. It has been designed to avoid the massive number of off-whites and/or greys that 'dilute' most other colour systems. Some colours are more durable than others.

Matching Colours
Colour matching using the Resene Total Colour System is very easy due to the layout of the palettes. Having identified the hue type, most colours can be located in seconds. Furthermore, because of the logical nature of the layout of each palette it is possible to use it to identify a desired colour space. For example, if a desired colour sits halfway between 4BG30 and 5BG30 it can be specified as 4.5BG30.

So that you can appreciate the images better, use your monitor controls to adjust the image until all 11 shades of grey are visible. If possible, set your monitor to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 pixels, 24 bit colour. Best viewed with the latest web browser.
