The Mend Brewstar™ Microbe Booster

The MEND Brewstar is a portable pump/heater/aerator kit which can be attached to any tank

Heat, aeration and agitation are all necessary for efficient microbe multiplication. The MEND Brewstar' delivers all three in a versatile, inexpensive, portable unit.

The MEND Brewstar™ Microbe Booster provides an exciting new tool for the microbe grower. The unit is versatile and multi-faceted, incorporating heating, aeration and agitation in one unit. Agitation is supplied via a centrifugal pump capable of pumping 300litres per minute. It is important to provide agitation to the brewing solution to prevent 'dead-spots' from occurring in the tank. Heating is supplied from elements that are housed within the pump and the temperature is monitored with a thermometer. The heater is capable of raising the water temperature to 35°C.
Aeration is supplied by four venturi ports that are located at the end of the 50-mm (2") flexcoil outlet hose. This unit features a bypass system that allows the user to fill spray rigs from the brewing unit without having to stop the aeration of the brew mix. In addition to microbe multiplication, the unit can also be used for solubilising granular fertilisers such as urea or humates for DIY recipes. Materials with poor solubility like potassium sulfate and boron products are rapidly dissolved in the heated, agitated environment of the MEND Brewstar™. The MEND Brewstar™ Microbe Booster is an integral component in the revolutionary MEND™ system (Microbially Enhanced Nutrient Delivery).

Benefits:

  • The unit can be used as a transfer pump for many situations.
  • The pump kit comes complete with fittings that can be adapted to any brewing tank.
  • This unit can be used for brewing volumes from 200litres to 5000litres.
  • The MEND Brewstar™ Microbe Booster delivers dissolved oxygen more efficiently than most other brewing apparatus on the market and far more cost-effectively.
  • The MEND Brewstar™ Microbe Booster features a 100-micron mesh bag which can be used to capture fibrous residue from the brewing tank during dispatch to the spray tank/fertigation tank.

Packaging:

  • The unit comes complete in a cardboard box.
  • Box Dimensions: 60cm x 60cm x 60cm. (Four kits can be packed on a standard-sized pallet.)
  • Weight: 31kg per unit

Mode of Action:

  • The pump is powered by 240-volt AC and is supplied with a 15-amp plug. The pump is a centrifugal pump and, for best results, should be positioned as low as possible when priming the system, ie. level with the brewing tank outlet.

Information:

  • The MEND Brewstar™' is a valuable tool for dissolving Potassium Humate Granules to make inexpensive DIY liquid humic acid.
  • It is also ideal for dissolving potassium sulfate. The warmth can double the normal solubility of this material,
is 10kg per 100 litres can become 20kg per 100 litres.
  • The MEND Brewstar™ can also be used to dissolve urea very effectively or trace elements like boron (which are normally difficult to dissolve).
  • The key to successful microbe brewing is dissolved oxygen. All beneficial microbes are aerobic (require oxygen) and as they multiply the oxygen requirements are tremendous. The MEND Brewstar™ Microbe Booster is one of the few units that can satisfy this demand.
  • When the heater is working the small orange light, located in the switch on top of the control box, will be illuminated.
  • The pump and tank should be flushed after each brewing with a solution of between 1 - 3 % hydrogen peroxide. Note: hydrogen peroxide is recommended due to its non-residual nature. Safety equipment and care should be taken when handling this liquid even at this concentration, as it can burn exposed skin.
  • The pump is supplied with a 12-month replacement warranty. For all repairs contact NTS. Ideally food should be allowed to flow through the pump as suspended bags may cause anaerobic pockets.
  • The bypass hose is used to supply brew mix to the spray rig without interrupting aeration of the brew. The brew solution should always be strained via the mesh bag provided to prevent filter/nozzle blockages.
