PASTURE AND NON-CROP WEED CONTROL IN GRAZING SITUATIONS, RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENTAL AREAS.

Starane 200 Herbicide is effective on a range of broadleaf and woody weeds in areas where plant growth is active. Starane 200 is also rainfast within 1 hour of application, which means that it is ideally suited to tropical and sub-tropical areas. Another key feature of Starane 200 is its versatile application. It can be applied by a wide range of methods, including:

FOLIAR SPRAYING

For effective application, use a high volume handgun to thoroughly treat the foliage of the plant. It is recommended that a No. 6-8 tip is used on the gun and that the pump pressure is calibrated to a pressure of 700-1500 kPa.

It is important that the entire leaf area of the plant is treated to the point of run-off, with thorough coverage of the crown, runners and tips of the plant. The addition of a spray marker dye may assist in ensuring correct coverage.

WEED RATE OF APPLICATION
(per 100 L Diesel)
CRITICAL COMMENTS
Acacia 500 or 1000 ml - Use higher rates for plants over 1.5m high or regrowth following mechanical clearing.
Balsam pear 450 ml - Spray prior to flowering.
Bellyache bush 500 or 1000 ml - Apply to actively growing seedlings and young plants at flowering.
Blackberry nightshade 450 ml - Apply to actively growing seedlings and young plants at flowering.
Brigalow regrowth 500 or 1000 ml - Use higher rates for plants over 1.5m high  or regrowth following mechanical clearing.
Crofton weed 500 ml - Apply to actively growing seedlings and young plants at flowering.
Lantana 500 or 1000 ml - Use higher rates for plants over 1.5m high.
- Apply to actively growing plants (Oct - Apr).
Legumes & Vines 500 ml - Apply to actively growing seedlings and young plants at flowering.
Limebush 1000 ml - Thorough coverage of total plant is essential.
Milkweed 1000 ml - Repeat applications are necessary to control subsequent germinations.
Mimosa pigra 300 ml - Spray seedlings from first storms through to flowering.
Mistflower 500 ml - Apply to actively growing seedlings and young plants at flowering.
Prickly acacia 500 ml -
Sensitive plant 450 ml - Older plants may require follow-up treatment.
Sidas 500 ml (Qld)
1000 ml (NSW)
- Spray actively growing plants at flowering.
- For older plants, slash and spray after rain.

BASAL BARK

Basal bark spraying is ideal for treatment of saplings and regrowth of smaller stem diameter. The herbicide should be mixed with diesel to assist penetration through the bark and the spray mixture should be applied to the whole circumference of each stem from ground level to a minimum height of 30cm.

CRITICAL COMMENTS
Honey locust
1.5 lt
3 lt
5 lt
- Basal bark up to 10cm diameter
- Basal bark 10 to 20 cm in diameter
- Basal bark above 20cm in diameter and cut stump
Minosa bush
3 lt
- Apply to plants up to 10cm in diameter. Old rough
bark will require more spraying than young smooth bark.
Chinese celtis
3 lt
- Apply as basal bark only (Permit No: PER 757).
Prickly acacia
1.5 lt
- Apply to plants up to 10cm diameter.

BOOM SPRAY APPLICATION

Sprayers should be calibrated to deliver a minimum of 250L/ha o water with a droplet size of 150-350 microns.

In dense infestations, higher volumes of water should be used to achieve better penetration and coverage. Flat fan nozzles should be used in these situations with spray pressures of 200-300 kPa. Ensure to set the boom height for double overlap of the nozzle pattern at the top of the weed canopy.

RATE OF APPLICATION (per ha)
CRITICAL COMMENTS
Balsam pear 1.3 L - Use a minimum of 250 L/ha spray volume*.
Blue billygoat weed 1.5 L - Use a minimum of 250 L/ha spray volume*.
Noogoora burr 750 ml - Plants must be actively growing to seeding.
- Apply in a minimum of 250 L/ha spray volume.
Sensitive plant 1.5 L - Use a minimum of 250 L/ha spray volume*.
Spinyhead Sida 1.5 L - for older plants, slash and spray regrowth following rain.
* Add 1L/ha of Uptake spraying oil.

AERIAL SPRAYING APPLICATION

Apply herbicide in not less than 60L/ha. Spray with a calibrated aircraft. Spraying in wind exceeding 10km/hr, or temperature 30°C is not recommended.

... SOFT ON THE ENVIRONMENT

Starane 200 Herbicide is a non-scheduled poison and will not harm either the operator or the environment, if used in accordance with the product label. Starane 200 is selective to pasture grasses and rainfast within one hour, which allows applications to be selectively applied under suitable conditions for maximum benefits.

  • PROTECTION OF PEOPLE ANSD THE ENVIRONMENT – Starane 200 poses little harm to wildlife, livestock or applicators when used in accordance with label directions.
  • OPERATOR SAFETY – when preparing the spray mixture the operator should avoid contact with eyes and skin by wearing face shield or goggles.
  • VOLATILITY – Starane 200 is formulated as a low volatile product, which allows use around sensitive areas without off target damage.
  • LIVESTOCK SAFETY – DO NOT cut or graze treated pastures for seven days after application.
  • SOIL RESIDUALITY – Starane 200 is rapidly taken up by plant material following application. Spray that runs off onto the soil will break down within a few days of application.
  • AQUATIC SAFETY – DO NOT contaminate water likely to be used for irrigation, stock or domestic purposes with product or used containers. DO NOT contaminate ponds, creeks or ditches.
  • OFF TARGET DAMAGE – as Starane 200 is highly active on many broadleaf plants it is important to ensure off target SPRAY DRIFT does not occur onto sensitive plants. Starane 200 is selective to most grass species.
