When spraying Balance on ratoon cane, the following principles should be remembered:

Crop stage
Balance can be safely boom sprayed over the top of ratoon cane up to the 2-leaf crop stage. Where cane is more advanced than the 2-leaf stage, apply Balance later as a directed spray using Irvin Legs.
Accurate calibration
Apply Balance at a single rate of 200 g/ha. It is important to spray Balance in a tank-mix with paraquat (label rate) where weeds have emerged at the time of spraying. Do not add wetting agent with Balance.
