Quick calibration for Basta through the boom

The correct set-up and management of a herbicide sprayer is the key to efficient and effective spray application. Incorrect application of herbicides leads not only to poor control, but also wastes chemicals, time and money.

The benefit of calibrating is that growers find out the spray application rate. This is necessary for whenever chemicals that are specified in per hectare rates are used. Calibration will also enable growers and managers to calculate how many tanks are needed for a particular block.

Calibration is a simple technique to help you determine how much chemical your sprayer is putting on. The main aim of calibration is to ensure a specified rate of a herbicide is applied to the target weed.

Steps 1-3 of the diagram below are only relevant if identical nozzles are being used across the full width of the boom.
