Convenient worm, lice and cattle tick control in lactating dairy cows. A NIL (milk) withholding period for CYDECTIN (moxidectin) Pour-on in lactating cows is big news. Worms, lice, ticks (Tropical Cattle Tick, Boophilus microplus, only), can all be controlled when your animals need it most. Not to mention when it suits you best! POUR-ON CONVENIENCE Messing around with clumsy drenching hooks is stressful for both you and your herd. With CYDECTIN Pour-on for Cattle and Red Deer there’s no stress (and no mess). Simply pour it on to treat worms, biting and sucking lice, and cattle ticks. |

And of course, you can pour it on your whole herd – milkers, replacement heifers, young calves, dry cows and bulls (see Table 1). You can use CYDECTIN Pour-on at any stage throughout the lactation cycle, not just at drying off, so it’s hard to imagine a more convenient parasite treatment. LESS PARASITES, GREATER PRODUCTIVITY Healthier animals are more productive animals. Without the burden of parasites, cows more effectively convert feed, especially expensive supplements, into milk. But just how much more productive can they be? Australian and New Zealand trials (Table 2) have demonstrated the impact that controlling parasites can have on the ability of cows to produce milk. Losses due to worm infestation can be very substantial. Table 3 (below) shows how using CYDECTIN Pour-on to clean out a production limiting worm burden could mean an extra $18 profit per cow per lactation, depending on the total worm burden in the herd. |

TICKS, WORMS AND LICE Control of the cattle tick (Boophilus microplus) is a major problem for Queensland dairy farmers. Now, lactating diary cows can be treated for ticks with an effective and easy to use pour-on, while at the same time being treated for biting and sucking lice, as well as worms. |

KILLS WORMS FOR LONGER CYDECTIN Pour-on keeps killing all four major cattle worms long after drenching. That’s 28 days protection against Ostertagia, stomach hairworm and barbers pole worm, and 42 days against lungworm. So during this period, the worm larvae your cattle pick up while grazing are killed. Which means less scouring. And because these larvae are killed and the life cycle of these worms is broken, pasture recontamination with worm eggs decreases. All of which means easier grazing management for you. RAINFAST CYDECTIN won’t pour off when it rains. So unlike some other pour-ons, you needn't be concerned if rain falls soon after application. If need be, you can even apply CYDECTIN Pour-on to wet cattle, even though this isn’t good drenching practice. It’s just one more thing that makes CYDECTIN Pour-on more convenient. DUNG BEETLE SAFE Small though they are, dung beetles play a vital role in pasture management. They increase soil fertility and aerate soil, as well as removing breeding sites for worm larvae, buffalo flies and nuisance flies. CYDECTIN Pour-on, when used as directed, has no adverse impact on dung beetles or dung beetle populations. |
